Aimee Wigfall Photography

Aimee Wigfall Photography is the premier custom portrait and wedding photographer serving Carbondale and the surrounding southern Illinois area. Aimee's custom portraiture focuses on the use of natural light, both indoors and outdoors. She specializes in modern beauty portraits, capturing the inner beauty and personality of every client. Aimee is a startup company hoping to grow into a commercial lease space soon.

Beaded Distribution

Beaded Distribution, LLC, was started in the SIU Research Park in 2015, by SIU Carbondale graduate and microbiologist Curt Jones. Jones, founder of Dippin’ Dots Inc., commercialized his original lab discovery and produced the “Ice Cream of the Future.” Twenty-eight years and billions of dots later, Jones is now reinventing coffee with his cryogenic freezing technology. Jones, and a group of students from multiple disciplines on campus, are currently in the R&D phase and are looking to expand upon this niche market. 


CarbonChem, LLC is a start-up business. Most of its initial efforts will be related to laboratory use in the development and possible production of intermediates and other products for Pharmaceutical companies.


Greplytix is a company with the first platform designed and built by educators for educators to harness the power of big-data techniques and apply it to an intuitive, easy-to-understand and natural to use platform.  They are the first company to incorporate adaptive-learning algorithms that allow insight to learn about their clients’ environment and improve to better cater to their specific needs over time.


GRiTworks is a designer of earphones for active, mobile people who are driven to succeed.  All-day comfort and style with AMBi Tunable Hearing Technologies gives GRiT users the control and freedom to selectively mix, hear, and interact with their audio and surroundings.  “Mix It Up” and be your personal DJ with isolation for loud times and amplification for quiet zones.

Illinois Heartland Library System

The Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) provides delivery and automation (online catalog software) to the libraries of southern and parts of central Illinois, as well as certain grant program services, such as the Cataloging Maintenance Center to libraries statewide. ILHS supports member libraries of all types in providing quality library services. IHLS facilitates access to shared resources, advocates for libraries, promotes innovation and develops community partnerships.


MASIS provides world-class services through computer modeling to a wide range of solutions in the research and development activities related to the Chemical and Energy Industries. Those activities include screen catalysts for various chemical reactions and prediction of properties “in-silico.”


PackerLabs is a digital agency providing solutions for businesses in the areas of Mobile App Development, Social Media, Product Photography, Website and eCommerce Development, and Search Engine Optimization.

Saffron Scientific Histology Services

Saffron Scientific Histology Services is a new business that provides histological services tailored to the unique needs of research, veterinary, physician, hospital, and surgery center clients.  Animal, human, and plant tissues from medical or research sources are grossed, fixed, processed, embedded, sectioned, and stained.


ScribeConnect is a national full-service medical scribe company based centrally in the Midwest. ScribeConnect’s experience in emergency medicine, family medicine, physician management, and scribing means ScribeConnect is an all-inclusive physician's resource.

Sound Core Music & Video

Sound Core is a full-service enterprise which provides video and media production services as well as installations of video and media equipment.  Sound Core's incubator mission is to increase their reach in the audio video production, training, archiving, and social media support areas.


Thermaquatica is dedicated to the scale-up and commercial exploitation of the Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution process. Thermaquatica is merging creative chemistry with engineering to pioneer the development of environmentally friendly means to produce next generation materials and fuels.

Business Language and Culture Exchance (BLACE)

Southern Illinois University’s Office of Economic & Regional Development and Center for English as a Second Language created the Business Language and Culture Exchange (BLACE) to provide a customizable program of English instruction and business interaction/education to professionals from around the world. 

Capital Development Board (CDB)

The Capital Development Board is the construction management arm of Illinois’ state government. CDB oversees the design and construction of new elementary and high schools, college and university facilities, public safety centers, museums and historic sites, state recreation areas, health centers, office buildings and prisons. In addition, CDB is responsible for annual repair and renovation programs at more than 8,400 state-owned properties, as well as the removal of environmental hazards and the upgrading of facilities to meet accessibility standards.

Champion Community Investments (CCI)

Champion Community Investments (CCI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) economic development organization with the primary goal of improving the quality of the lives of the residents of communities within Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry and Williamson Counties that make up its membership. Since 2006, CCI has provided low-interest lending solutions for area small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs. With the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development programming, CCI has raised over $3 million in business capital for regional growth and investment. In September 2013 CCI was designated as a Community Development Financial Institution by the United States Department of the Treasury.

Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program (EIR)

The Office of Economic & Regional Development at SIUC has created an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Program, launched in 2017.  The EIR Program is established to strengthen existing services of the region while further developing innovation to the entrepreneurship ecosystem, combining high growth startup companies, university technology and regional innovation.  The EIR Program’s purpose is to increase employment opportunities, promote innovation and bridge current innovation gaps offering strong mentoring, management support and access to capital investments through experienced EIRs.

Illinois Century Network (ICN)

The Illinois Century network is a statewide educational intranet providing constituents with network consulting, assists participating institutions with the provisioning of networking hardware and connectivity, monitors constituent connections and works with local telecommunications providers to promptly resolve outages.

Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC)

The Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center are the experts in small and mid-sized manufacturing. IMEC delivers hands-on technical assistance and strategic advisement to help manufacturers to be more productive and globally competitive. Since 1996, IMEC has helped more than 2,500 Illinois manufacturing companies to achieve more than $1.5 billion in productivity, profit, and cost savings improvements.

Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at SIU / International Trade Center (ITC) / Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Center (TIES)

The Illinois Small Business Development Center provides small business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools, guidance and support necessary to start, manage and grow successful and sustainable businesses. Direct and personalized business assistance is provided to entrepreneurs through one-on-one professional consulting, training/workshops, assisting business owners to increase their sales, obtain loans, streamline operations, utilize new technologies, expand into new markets, and position themselves for long-term growth. 

Jackson CEO

Jackson CEO: Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities is a year-long course designed to utilize partnerships that provide an overview of business development and processes. Our local business community partners with area schools to create project-based experiences for students by providing funding, expertise, meeting space, business tours, and one-on-one mentoring.

Jackson Growth Alliance (JGA)

The Mission of the Jackson Growth Alliance is to encourage economic and community development for all of Jackson County, Illinois and the greater southern Illinois region. The Jackson Growth Alliance unites the efforts of the Jackson County government, City of Carbondale, City of Murphysboro, Southern Illinois University, Southern Illinois Airport Authority and the Jackson County business community for the achievement of economic development goals.

SIU Office of Economic and Regional Development (OERD)

The Office of Economic and Regional Development (OERD) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is your regional gateway to a myriad of resources. The collective knowledge and resources herein are ready to assist businesses and start-up entrepreneurs with everything from creating a business plan to attracting equity investments. Many of the technical assistance programs in OERD are a part of the statewide Illinois Entrepreneurship Network.

SIU Research Park (SIURP)

The SIU Research Park developed from the successful foundation of the business incubator program, which opened its first facility in 1990. The Research Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, university-related organization. The SIURP Board of Directors is comprised of SIU representatives, entrepreneurs and business leaders, and local government officials. The primary markets served by the Research Park include University spin-outs and emerging/expanding technology-based organizations. The SIURP mission is “to establish and support an environment to foster innovation, commercialize University discoveries, and advance entrepreneurship and economic development within SIU and throughout the region.”

Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program (MTU#15)

The Mobile Team Unit (MTU#15) provides delivery of in-service law enforcement training to 152 law enforcement agencies, which include 1,600 officers, covering the 27 southern Illinois counties.  MTU#15 delivers approximately 180 classes each year throughout the region using over 50 diferent training sites.

Special Olympics, Illinois

Special Olympics Illinois provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilites. The Special Olympics Illinois downstate office has partnered with Southern Illinois University on a variety of projects including providing internship opportunities to SIU students.
